McFaul - that's a very interesting name...how the heck is it pronounced?
...as in FALL (down the mountain).
You're like hyper prolific - exactly how many of you guys are there?
Four whole people but sometimes a little more depending on the project.
I didn't know you were on the South Coast, how come?
London doesn't have ALL the answers people! We're 10 minutes from the best beach on the South Coast, 10 minutes from the South Downs and some great biking, 10 minutes from home and 100 metres from some great pubs. Go figure!
Can we write a profile on you guys for our magazine/weblog/book?
Of course...but please pop by and see how we live. It'll make it all so much better...and anyway, we like a good chin wag over a cheeky Vimto.
Man...we love your skateboards. They are so groovy! Can we stock them in our store?
Sure you can. Just get in touch and we'll work something out.
I'm looking for some work experience and you guys rock can I come in and show you what i can do?
Perhaps you could send us some work and a CV first and we'll go from there. Maybe we can rock and roll but maybe your talents might be suited elsewhere. Either way...we'd like to think we'd take the time to reply. We generally do consider applicants at certain times of the year but this is all dependent on the workload at the time...and if we're in a good mood.
When are you in a good mood?
Generally after a cuppa and a biscuit...or if we get Jelly Beans/ Cadbury's Cream eggs in the post.
Can you answer these 500 questions for my dissertation?
Err...we'll try to answer as many of these as we can but the sheer number dictates that we can only answer a small percentage...and we certainly can't do it for tomorrow!!
We think you guys are great. Would you guys ever consider mooching in and doing a talk at our School/College/University?
We're no strangers to Design Education. John was a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design for 8 years before things became too much for him to juggle. If you want us in to wow you with loveliness and excite you to oblivion then tell your course leader to get in touch. I'm sure we can facilitate your needs somehow.
Do you have any advice for up-and-coming talent?
Start the day with a hearty breakfast. You'll need it to go that extra mile.
In this climate of Illustrators turned multidisciplinary designers you guys seem to have been very successful and continue to push your creativity in all directions. How do you do it?
By going that extra mile, doing that little bit more, pushing ourselves that teeny bit further...and enjoying every minute.
Can you guys draw in real life?
Heck yeah...
If you guys were off to the moon what 15 things would be in those back packs?
1 Tardis backpack in moon-type-camo plus baby pouch.
Our lovely ladies (obviously!)
1 Sketchbook/Pencil combo thing.
1 15" Mac-book Pro.
1 Skateboard.
1 fixed wheel Bike.
1 12 pack of Cadburys cream eggs.
1 pack of Jelly Beans.
1 very large flask of Tea.
1 Beard Trimmer.
1 Leatherman.
1 box of Tin Foil.
1 Tupperware box.
1 parachute.
1 return ticket.
...we definitely wouldn't take our phones.
Is there anything you guys can't do?
We can't understand why people aren't more concerned about our environment! We can't go back to London to work. No way! We can't wear contact lenses...and anyway - facial furniture is boom! We can't tell you any of our many secrets. We can't tell you to work hard! We can't tell you to do your own thing and stop copying others. We can't answer EVERYONES dissertation questions. We can't begin to tell you how tired we are from time to time. We can't ride our bikes and skateboards as much as we'd like. We can't wait for the next time we will ride our bikes and skateboards. We can't shoehorn 72 hours into 24. We can't go past lunchtime without having lunch. We can't seem to get home at a reasonable hour in the evening...(and more than occasionally not at all). We sometimes can't sleep from being so excited. We can't believe how lucky we are. We can't imagine doing anything else. We can't do anything else! (except riding bikes and skateboards).
